I've always loved handmade things. There are a few reasons for this.

For one, my family is a crafting family: my grandmother, a seamstress and dollmaker, my great-grandmother, a weaver and basket-maker, my aunt can make anything out of plastic canvas while my mum started me quite young down the crafting path. Some of my earliest memories are of afternoons spent making all manner of things with my mum.

I love the uniqueness and the soul of handmade things.

And, as a kid growing up with not a lot of money, handmade things were the one gift I could always afford to give.

Unfortunately, these days I find that a lot of handmade things can be crazy expensive! So I started Hoot (partially as an outlet for my idle crafting but also) with the goal of creating fun, unique pieces at affordable prices. That way, even if you don't happen to be a crafter yourself, you can still enjoy some handmade pretties.
